GLEED2D xna 4.0

Can gleed2d be used with xna 4.0?

I have downloaded it but it will not open, this editor looks brilliant and want to try it out.

I've been working on the next version of Gleed 2D. There's now a completely new way of loading levels, so this issue has likely been resolved.
Give it a try at

I wonder if the XNA 4 version could easily be ported to use MonoGame ( ) so that it could be released on other desktop platforms like Mac and Linux.

Yes, it could be very easily ported.  There's 2 parts:

1) The output: The only output from Gleed 2D is XML.  This should be trivial to read in the new platform

2) The tool itself:  This would take longer, but the layout of the source code for the new version is now radically different from the old version.  It's all plug-in based.  The only XNA specific thing is the 'canvas' type (plus a smattering of XNA types here and there (mostly 'Color' etc.).
